The courses are made up of a mixture of gravel, bush fire trails and bitumen. See course information for specific breakdowns. For the long, medium & short courses on Saturday, the only bitumen is on the ride to and from town to the start of the State Forest and National Park. The Mt Mackenzie Frenzy on Sunday is all bitumen, and the Curry's Gap Dash is mostly bitumen (with 3.5km of gravel).
All courses are suitable for gravel bikes, mountain bikes and e-bikes. The Range Rumble, Wellington Rocks and Basket Swamp Bash are on a mix of gravel roads and fire trails - some of which are a little rough and rutted. There are also a number of creek crossings, so we recommend tyres suitable for riding these roads.
The Basket Swamp Bash is suitable for adaptive bikes, there is one creek crossing with a concrete base. It is about 30cm deep with good entry and exit.
The Mt Mackenzie Frenzy is all bitumen, and is suitable for road bikes, but be aware there are some cattle grids, and it is a challenging climb followed by a fast downhill ride.
The short answer is yes, this is a timed event. However, do not let this scare you, it is a friendly event, with generous time allowance and a friendly fun atmosphere. It is a great day and lots of fun.
There are plenty of accommodation options in Tenterfield - including motels, campgrounds, hotels and houses. Camping will also be available at the Tenterfield Showgrounds for $15 per person - this can be booked when you register for the event.

Absolutely! There will be early morning coffee and breakfast available at the Race Village to get you going on Saturday & Sunday morning. Saturday afternoon at the Race Village is the post-race party, with DJ, food vans, local beer & wine and plenty of chairs, tables and shade.
On Friday night and Sunday afternoon we encourage you to head into Tenterfield and support our wonderful cafes and restaurants - there will be live music and special events in the main street on Friday night, and some great lunch options for Sunday!
Absolutely not! There's heaps to do in and around town for any non-riders (or those who want to book a longer stay). Tenterfield is surrounded by National Parks, and there's plenty of hikes, scenic drives and swimming spots if it's warm enough. We have great shopping in town, wonderful museums (the Railway Museum is a must visit with kids), great views from the Mt Mackenzie Lookout, open gardens and the Granite Belt wine region is only 20 minutes north!
This is a great event to bring the whole family!
