All bitumen. All climb.
The Mt Mackenzie Frenzy is a focused test of climbing strength - 12km ascending 710m to the summit, followed by a controlled group descent back to town.
It’s short, sharp and rewarding, with panoramic views over Tenterfield and the surrounding granite country at the top.
Starting from the Tenterfield Showgrounds on Sunday morning, riders head straight into the climb up Mt Mackenzie Road.
The first 12km is the timed race segment - a steady, sustained ascent that demands pacing and patience. There are no technical sections, just consistent climbing and open-road conditions.
At the summit, riders regroup before descending together. For safety, the return descent begins once all participants have reached the top.
It’s a fitting way to finish the weekend - a final challenge before rolling back into town.
The Mt Mackenzie Frenzy is suited to:
If you enjoy climbing and want to test your legs on a clean, uninterrupted ascent, this one’s for you.
