The Basket Swamp Bash is fast, scenic and seriously fun - 38km of gravel, flowing descents and granite-country backroads.
It’s designed to deliver a proper gravel adventure in a shorter format, making it ideal for adaptive riders, newer gravel riders and anyone wanting a strong ride without the long-course distance.
Expect downhill thrills, steady climbs, creek crossings and wide-open sections of fast gravel.
Starting from Lindrook Road (see note below), riders begin with a fast downhill run before rolling into a mix of gravel climbs and flowing descents toward Basket Swamp Road.
The course includes a creek crossing with a concrete base (approximately 10-20cm deep, depending on conditions). We monitor water levels prior to the event - be prepared to get your feet wet.
A steady 5km climb builds toward the final stretch, before a fast descent along Mt Lindesay Road returns you toward town. The final run down Rouse Street brings you back to the Showgrounds and into the race village atmosphere.
This course delivers challenge, scenery and fun in equal measure.
Adaptive Riders
The Basket Swamp Bash is suitable for adaptive riders and hand cycles. The creek crossing has a concrete base with good entry and exit points. Our team monitors conditions leading into the event and will communicate any changes. Support crews and volunteers are positioned along the course to assist if required.
NOTE:
Please note this ride starts at Lindrook Road (along Mt Linesday Road). There is parking available at Talmoi Road. If possible we recommend being dropped off at the start by family/friends. Alternatively there is a shuttle bus operating from the showgrounds for you to collect your car after the race.
The Basket Swamp Bash is ideal for:
It’s approachable — but still delivers real gravel riding.
