The Wellington Rocks course delivers the perfect balance of challenge and adventure - 66km of gravel, climbs and granite-country scenery. It’s demanding enough to feel like a proper achievement, but manageable for riders who want a solid day out without the full 91km endurance test.
Expect steady climbs, fast gravel descents, creek crossings and stretches of quiet National Park backroads - all framed by sweeping views of the Great Dividing Range.
Starting from the Tenterfield Showgrounds, the route rolls through town before heading north into Leeches Gully Road, where the climbing begins.
After crossing Tenterfield Creek, the course transitions onto gravel through Basket Swamp National Park. You’ll navigate a mix of fire trails, creek beds and flowing gravel sections that reward steady pacing and confident handling.
A sharp climb onto Lindrook Road tests the legs before fun rolling terrain leads you toward Basket Swamp Road. The final section delivers a fast bitumen descent along Mt Lindesay Road back to the Showgrounds - where the race village atmosphere awaits.
This is a course for riders who enjoy pushing themselves - without going all-in on the long course.
The Wellington Rocks course is suited to:
If you’re confident on gravel and ready for some climbing, this course hits the sweet spot.
